What is that supposed to mean?

[ it probably has something to do with the faded scar on her left hand, far more visible now that shes obly wearing short sleeves. Definitely not something she had back home, even if its clearly Torchwick's symbol. ]

Well.. no. You didn't actually kidnap me, so I doubt it.

I thought- I mean, it wasn't terrible but it's not happening again.

I wouldn't kidnap you. And don't say that, it makes it sound like you go out of your way to upset criminals and that's...you don't need to do that.

[He kind of gives a defeated shrug.] I figured you'd say something like that. [His gaze drifts down a little when he notices her hand.] Weiss, did you spill some--

What...?

Of course I do. It's literally my job to upset criminals and to be good enough at my job to handle it anyway.

[ Weiss almost asks what he expected her to say. It isnt like any norn
mal person would suddenly say sure, spooning between friends is dandy. But she doesnt get it out. She knows what Jaune means when his eyes fall downward. Weiss puts her right hand over the scar to cover it. ]

Torchwick was here before. About a year ago, he murdered Blake and kidnapped me after a man named Kefka gave him significant power. He kept me in one of Fayren's sewers for 11 days with no food, just enough water to keep me alive, and my he made sure I couldn't recover my aura. Katara, Mayu, and Zuko helped me get the function back in my hand, I'm fine now. It's just another scar, Jaune.

[ Weiss crossed her arms. ]

Okay, I can see your point when you put it that way. I kinda just imagined you going up to criminals and kicking them in the shins or whatever would upset them.

[He spoke without thinking again. But before he can feel bad about that, he listens to Weiss' much more horrifying story. He can't decide whether to be outraged, scared or sad.]

Blake and you...

I'm sorry, Weiss. I had no idea... I hope he never comes back. But if he does, he'll have to pay.

I just meant that if you're the worst kidnapper I'm dealing with now, I'm clearly not making as much of an impact as I should be.

[ She holds her wrist out so he can see it better, even look at it in detail if he wants. It looks like it was cut over and over again so that it would definitely leave a scar, some levels of the scars looking more or less healed than others. ]

This is just a reminder that even when I couldn't lift Myrtenaster on my own, I found a way and I always will as long as I don't try to fight alone. If you want to have my back if he steps foot in this place again, so long as you're not going to be a liability, I'll gladly accept the help.

[ It's obvious she's grown up in a lot more ways than that since he last saw her, too. Even if she reflexively fell back into a lot of old habits the second Jaune showed up.. ]

That, or they're just so impressed by you they don't want to challenge you because they know they'd lose.

[He doesn't know a lot about how injuries work, but even he can tell that an injury like this would cause long-term damage. And it wasn't just an injury, it was a form of torture. That's the most upsetting part. He finally steps back.]

You're strong. I don't think anyone could stop you. [When he had first arrived at Beacon, he might have taken her words personally, determined to prove her wrong. He remains the latter, and meets her eyes, nodding.] I'll always have your back. And I'm sure the others will too. You don't need to try to fight alone because you're not alone.

Well I'd hope that's the case, but I somewhat doubt it.

[ It definitely was and she certainly wouldn't be so calm about it if she hadn't. It took a water bender to help undo the nerve damage that had been done, making most of the remaining damage more topical than anything. ]

..As long as it's not literally.

[ The rabbit bed was still the awkward elephant in the room, even if it was just Weiss's attempt to try to make this whole thing less serious.

She wasn't very good at jokes. ]

Or maybe right now the city just has really incompetent kidnappers.

[He's just glad Weiss didn't slam his own door in his face and yell at him when she woke up. He'll try to throw in some awkward jokes too, if it will somehow make this easier to deal with.]

You'd prefer it if I don't catch you if you ever end up falling from really high up again? Okay, I'm sure Ruby can handle that.

[He likes his bed. It was the last one they had, he's so proud.]

Also possible. I mean, the worst thing that's happened from anyone with pendants here was a while ago.

[ Someone should probably knock on wood for Weiss's sake. She crosses her arms and sticks her nose in the air. ]

You didn't catch me, you broke my fall.

But that would be a good thing. It could change at any moment, from the way I've seen this place works.

[He puts his hands on his hips.]

[ She's definitely refusing to actually say the words that Jaune is right at the moment. ]

One of us still ended up on top of the other.

[His voice raises a little in pitch and he shifts uncomfortably.]

That's a...very interesting way of putting it.

[ she didn't.. even realize. This wouldn't even have seemed awkward if they weren't still standing next to his bed. Weiss suddenly looks irritated, her pitch and volume both raising. ]

That's not what I meant and you know it!

[He holds both his hands up, trying to appease her, as well as keep her distracted from his own awkwardness.]

I'm just saying. Your wording? If I had just walked in hearing you say that, my first thought wouldn't be on the battlefield.

...And we ended up in a very awkward final position.

[ She narrows her eyes a little, but.. honestly, she's blushing. Who wouldn't if they were having their words twisted like that while only wearing a nightgown after the day they've had? ]

No, my first thought would be something along the lines of, 'Wow that is a really tall Grimm.'

[More uncomfortable shifting. Who knew a stupid joke could get the Ice Queen to blush like that.]

I don't know if I can sleep now. Not without knowing why you got in my bed.

I didn't get in your bed! I somehow ended up there!

[ "Get in" implies she did it on purpose. ]

Who just hugs the first thing they bump into while they're asleep anyway? You have no idea how lucky you are that was my stomach.

But you were in it.

[He feels like he has to make a point. Because Weiss is being stubborn so he wants to be stubborn.]

I was having a good dream! I don't normally have people in my bed but I have had things like pillows so how was I supposed to know? My eyes were closed.

How are things with Pyrrha, Jaune?

[ Look, they can change the subject because Weiss doubts there's any way Jaune could've somehow kidnapped her into his bed which means she probably crawled in there with him and she has no explanation for that besides confusion and embarrassment. ]

[aurabble]

[He stretches and sits back on his bed. It might be weird, but so is this whole situation.]

They're...better. She told me everything. I can't believe that all this time...I had no idea!

[whiteas]

You're literally the only one who had no idea. Professor Oobleck probably knew.

[ This is working. They're not talking about Weiss being in bed with Jaune anymore, so literally anything is okay. Let's play Weiss's favorite game of make Jaune feel bad about his life choices by stating obvious facts. ]

Do you actually like her or are you just seeing where it takes you? Or are you two not dating?

[ Give her the deets, Jaune. ]

Really? Pyrrha's not exactly an open book. You should sit. I promise I won't hug you again like my favorite stuffed animal--that I didn't keep until it was time for him to go live with his stuffed animal family and that's not what really happened is it?

[He glances down to avoid her gaze. Part of him wonders why Weiss is suddenly so curious, but. He's used to this having 7 sisters, and she's opened up to him more lately.]

I care about Pyrrha. It's kind of confusing. I care about her a lot, and we've really bonded since we met. She's strong, beautiful, she could get any guy she wanted. I've never really considered dating her before because of that, so I guess it is kinda...new to me.

[whiteas]

[ Okay now she's just pouting. This is somehow more embarrassing to her. He thought she was a stuffed toy. She's so not sitting. ] You thought I was a stuffed animal that you put out to pasture.

[ Easy. 1. Weiss is a giant gossip. and 2. if he really liked Pyrrha that easily and forgot about Weiss it would just prove her right. His answer at least doesn't seem like he's just jumping on Pyrrha because he wants someone to care about him. ]

If you never considered dating her before because of that, why did you like me so much? I know I'm not on Pyrrha's combat level, but I'm fairly certain all of those other categories fit except that I obviously didn't like you and she was obviously flirting with you from the moment the three of us met.

[aurabble]

[He winces, ow his ego.] Would you rather I have thought it was you?

[Suddenly his hands are a lot more interesting. He frowns, torn between telling her, and sparing his dignity. If he had any to begin with.]

Come on, do I really have to answer that? I never saw that as flirting. I just thought she was being a friendly person.

[whiteas]

That depends- what would you have done if you had thought it was me?

[ At least Weiss seems to have calmed down enough to go over to sit next to him on the edge of the bed, even if she's absolutely crossing her arms. ]

Anyone who actually wanted to be on Team Jaune when you were that desperately obvious to get my attention would have had to have been flirting with you. --Look, just make sure you actually like her before it gets beyond a couple of dates. She's obviously got a hard crush, and if you lead her on if you don't have feelings for her, you aren't going to be able to save a friendship afterward.
