[ Yang can't see it but she's rubbing her temples. Don't "uhg" her on something she did. Not that Yang could've possibly known. ]
It's- I mean he's not bad, just wait until you're sure and don't do something you're going to regret afterward. He's not unenjoyable to be around when he's not being an absolute pest, as much as he constantly reminds me that we're not friends whenever I tried to get him to do something that wasn't work-related. [ Or sometimes that was. ]
[Yang doesn't get it, but she won't argue. Weiss is her lifeline right now, and she cradles the communicator to her ear with both hands.]
I know it's pretty much harmless. I don't know, I guess there's still a little tiny part of me that worries he might be faking it again. It's stupid, I don't really think he will. I mean, if you're going to screw someone over, you don't scoop the gross gunk out of their gutters, right?
[She sighs.]
Maybe I'm just rusty. I know I'm not ready to get back in the game, won't be for a while.
...You sure you're not really friends? I mean, sure he's helping me out, but it's your house he's cleaning. So I don't know who he's trying to kid here.
Look, I'm not going to say he's turned around completely and he's all of a sudden an upstanding citizen. He's doing a lot of work to improve though, and if he's going out of his way to help you that's far more than he's ever done with anyone else I know of. All I'm saying is not to rush into things, with him or anyone else.
[ Her side goes quiet for a little while but she doesn't stop sending. It's hard to decide whether or not she should mention it, especially if Yang does like him. But then that should be all the more reason for her to tell her right? She doesn't want to lie about it, especially if Yang's potentially interested. Friends don't lie to friends. With a slightly clipped voice she adds: ] Full disclosure but if you tell anyone I will refuse to speak to both of you for the rest of your lives: Under the influence of both alcohol and a weird disaster where we were both split in two and my.. less moral half combined with my self-esteem being incredibly low at that point decided that his absolutely immoral half was good enough to make me not feel like I didn't deserve to be with someone, I.. may have had a one-night stand with him. Or half of me did, with half of him. We both remember it, but there is no emotional connection so if you did decide you wanted to after thinking about it and not rushing into things, I don't have a problem with it. I actively regret having done anything with him even if it was enjoyable and frankly isn't a bad memory, but I... I didn't want to not tell you and have you find out from him and think I lied to you or was trying to keep it a secret. Which I am, but not from you, and I feel like you should know.
[It's a lot to take in. And though Yang wouldn't say she was...interested...in Mercury, she had to admit that he was fun, and she liked being around him, and she definitely enjoyed their playful verbal sparring.]
[If Weiss had put it any other way, knowing their evil twins had slept together would have been just the thing for Yang to slam on the brakes permanently. She just doesn't mess around with guys that her friends are interested in. It's too messy, too complicated, and just not worth it when the sea is full of shirtless fish. But she listens to the explanation, paying attention to both how Weiss felt then and how she feels now.]
[It's still weird. Weird enough that she can use it to remind herself not to let her get swept away by the charm and attraction. But it's not a dealbreaker.]
Has anyone told you lately that you're a pretty good friend?
[That had to be tough for Weiss to let out, but she did it. Whatever frustrations Yang had before melt away easily now.]
Thanks. I appreciate what you told me. And don't worry. I won't tell a soul, and I'm not in a hurry for anything heavy. It's just...fun.
[And nice. And easy to be herself. Maybe she'll just enjoy the flirting for what it is and bask in the glow of how it feels to be a normal teenager again for a while.]
[ Um she's number one best teammate Yang didn't you know it's her official title*?? *Self-designated
Weiss and Mercury getting together only happened in the most convoluted of circumstances though, but if Yang was interested- whether for fun or seriously- they were convoluted circumstances she didn't want to keep to herself. ]
People could stand to tell me more often. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with fun. Sometimes it's what you need.
[It doesn't show, but her metal arm lifts slightly as Yang's gaze falls to look at it for a moment.]
It's something I haven't had in a long time. I guess I do need that.
[It's fun, and exciting, and she has absolutely no idea what's going to happen with any of this. Nothing is predictable, and that's just the kind of life she wants to live.]
Speaking of fun, Gwen and I want to throw a Halloween party for everyone. You know any places big enough for something like that? You know, that we can rent for free?
I think Gale was working on something for Halloween. He hasn't sent out the formal invitations yet but he does own a couple of clubs and he was talking about it, so he's certainly got the space. I'm sure he'd appreciate a team-up with someone with plenty of party planning experience and my personal recommendation.
[ He was asking her for ideas about it after all, sending help is probably a good idea. ]
Oh yeah, I just met that guy! Or...re-met him? I guess the previous me used to work for him, so at least I know I've got a back-up for part-time work if this bounty hunting stuff hits a dry spell. A dance club would rock for a Halloween party, though, I'll hit him up for it. Thanks!
[Maybe now Yang will get those fog machines she's always wanted.]
Gwen's new, just showed up a little while ago. Blonde, dry sense of humor, super fun to hang out with. I can introduce you guys if you want!

[Harassment, no commitment, good good. That's what she needs to think about.]
But I know, right? I was ready to pound him into the pavement last week. Now it's just...I don't know. Nice. I guess.
[She tips her head back to hit the wall with a quiet thump.]
We're cleaning the house. Surpriiiiiiise.
