[ Garrus is finishing putting some stuff away when she knocks. Screw it, he can throw the last few things in the cabinet later. He opens the door to let her in. ]
Thanks for coming. I don't really know who else to go to for this.

[Looking around, Weiss might notice that the place is fairly sparsely decorated; makes sense, given how little he’s home. There’s a bag half emptied of groceries abandoned on the kitchen counter. The door to his bedroom is closed, but to his work room isn’t. If she peeks in there, she’ll see a table with gun parts and bullets scattered around it and a tablet nearby with what looks like schematics for some kind of gun and holographic wall where he’s scribbled some notes, calibrations, and the like. In the main room there’s a couch, a mostly bare coffee table (though there is still an old mug on it), and an end table with a lamp and a digital photo frame he picked up a while back. Most of the pictures are from the Normandy, but she might recognize one or two that pop up if she’s paying attention, including one of him and Neo from their date a month or whenever it was back. His sniper is propped by the window, whose view might be what catches Weiss’ attention the most. The Skyhouses do offer quite the sight to be seen and a great vantage for taking shots.
He nods in agreeance. He wouldn’t have chosen her if he didn’t feel that way too.]
What I’m going to tell you, well, I think it’s pretty big. I could be overreacting, but there’s some weird stuff going on right now that no one’s mentioned so I don’t think anyone else knows about it.
[He goes over to a panel on the wall to deactivate the AI interface and pulls out his phone to power it off as well. The walls have ears - literally.]
Can you turn off your phone? I’m not sure if I’m actually supposed to know about it myself.
I guess I don’t need to warn you that telling you this might put you at risk if we’re not supposed to know, huh?
[ Weiss notes to give him some home decor for the holidays. Maybe some cool framed schematics since that seems to be his jam, and some puppy book ends or a napkin holder or something to make it look warmer.
And she spots Neo and makes a face. She's definitely going to have to bring that up later.
Weiss takes out her phone and turns it off. ]
You should've told me to swing by Aster and pick up an EMP before coming over. [ She's joking. ]
[So judgemental! He's not home a lot and when he is it's not like he's reading a magazine on the couch so he doesn't care how it looks!
And Neo is a very nice gun enthusiast why the face Weiss]
Nah, would have fried my omni-tool and my visor and they're a pain to fix. [ He's not.]
[He walks over to the kitchen when he hears a light click, grabs the freshly made cup of coffee, and hands it over to Weiss.]
It's probably not the quality that you're used to but you can have it.
[That's right, his apartment might not be warm but he still knows to get his guests coffee since they're all so damn reliant on it. There's a tiny basket on the counter with sugar and creamer packets. Sorry Weiss, nothing fresh - he doesn't have people over enough to warrant a carton of milk.
But now to business.]
I'm not sure if you know or not but a few months ago Cassian died. Not Andor - Tannusen's Cassian. [Why are there two people with such a rare name?] I'll spare you the details of what actually happened out of respect to Tannusen, but I was there that night. And after he died things got... weird.
Still, she appreciates the coffee. She's kind of surprised that he had it, a load of people in Genessia tend toward tea to the point that she's had to actively complain about there not being any decent coffee shops (though thankfully Fai would soon be taking care of that)- though Weiss just drinks the coffee straight, so she's not concerned about the lack of fresh cream. ]
Weird? What do you mean? [ She takes a sip of the coffee while she waits for elaboration. ]
[Rude, Weiss. You're getting an unamused look at that. Especially after he made you some coffee.]
You know how when people die here they don't stay dead? I might have seen the people that bring us back to life.
After Cassian died, Tannusen was a mess, so I stayed with him for a long while to make sure he didn't do anything stupid. But then there were these people who appeared. They were dressed in scrubs - red and white, I think? Anyway, they came and carried Tannusen away to a chamber under the Bay. I tried to follow but there was some sort of barrier in the way. And then the doors closed.
[He steps around the counter and into the living room. He's talking, but not at her. It's the first time he's actually vocalized all of this.]
At first I thought they were just doctors, but they didn't even acknowledge me, even when I spoke to them. And they were pristine. I've met my share of doctors and none of them has ever not had a hair out of place. These looked more like models than docs. And the pendants they had - you know, the ones we all get when we come here? Every single one of them was a rainbow. And I know that most of ours are a blend of colors too, but something just wasn't right about them. I'd have thought they were robots if my scanners didn't read their lifesigns.
I tried to go back there a couple of times, see if I could get in there, but I can't get the door to open, and even if I could I can't get past that barrier. It seems to be blocking my scanners, too, so I have no idea what's down there.
[He shakes his head before he looks back at her.]
I don't know what it all means, but I have a feeling I'm not supposed to know about it.

[ It takes her a moment because they are definitely and absolutely in strange territory right now. It's a lot to process, especially the rainbow pendants? Is that would a Genessia City pendant would look like, or is that something else? ]
People used to just disappear, like the Grimm, after a couple of hours.
[ This is different. This is unnerving, but also more normalizing? They're changing the rules and that's not fair to anyone. ]
Is it the same kind of barrier as The barrier or a new kind? Is it small and separated or connected to the overall one? Can you show me where it was? [ She has like a million questions. She doubts he's surprised, considering he has just as many. ]
[Wait a minute. People vanished? And no one found that weird? No one??]
I think it's the same kind, but I'm just basing that on the reaction from my scanners so I might be wrong. I really don't know anything else about them; we had barriers back where I'm from but they were mass effect shields created by biotics, nothing like this. [He paces the room for a minute, trying to piece together the puzzle but failing.] I could take you there, yeah, but I'm not sure what good it would do.
[He frowns, thinking for a moment. No, he has to ask.]
Did the vanishing bodies really not raise any alarms? Usually if you kill something, it stays there, least where I'm from. [Please tell him he's not from the only place in the universe where corpses don't defy the laws of physics.]
Oh it does, but it's not exactly common enough that there's a public panic about it. There are some creatures from my world that dissolve upon death, so I didn't think it was that odd except that it wasn't just monsters who were doing it. The non-pendant wearers don't dissolve, only people who wear the pendants. It isn't as though we had any way to really figure out what was going on with that though. It isn't any weirder than the fact that blood tests indicate we're apparently all under 10 years old or that the Bay water has living people particles in it.
[ Weiss's summaries of the research are slightly skewed. She doesn't quite understand the science, getting summaries of it resulted in her own interpretations. ]
[Where the fuck did she come from that bodies vanishing were normal? That shouldn't be physically possible! Then again neither should coming back to life at all so he'll let it slide. Though he does have to wonder what made the death mechanics here change all of a sudden since they apparently used to follow different rules.
That last bit, though.]
Hang on. What's this about the Bay and the us all being kids? [He's going to have to go back and scan the Bay later to see what his sensors pick up if there are life signs in it.] I'm no scientist, but I would like to know what the hell is going on around here.
Garrus, seriously? Go to Schnee Company. Tell them to fill you in on everything. It's like I made a huge center for all this and no one uses it but everyone wants to know the information that's right in front of them.
[ BOI. SHE IS NOT GONNA EXPLAIN YOU A THING WHEN YOU HAVE HAD FOREVER TO GO TO HER!! COMPANY!!! ]
...The Schnee Company has that kind of info? I thought it was just a "Welcome to Genessia" kind if thing. That's what you said in the intro video. Welcome and travel services, I think.
[This time his ignorance isn't his fault! He went by what the video told him (and never went there figuring he could get by).]
I had no way of knowing that we had that kind of intel. Been meaning to swing by the GRSF, but I wasn't fully sure what I was looking for and like I said, not sure if I'm even supposed to know this. I could be putting you at risk just telling you. If I go down there and start asking questions, they'll ask them right back. Science types always do.
I mean, they know anything the GSRF announces. They offer information, often things that people ask upon arrival, like "what are we doing here"? I founded both of them, if you think I wasn't going to utilize the resources to get information more widely spread, you're sorely mistaken.
[ But Weiss rolls her eyes at Garrus's complaint. ]
The GSRF's purpose it to find out information about this place. If we aren't finding out things we aren't supposed to know, we aren't doing our jobs correctly. Science types always ask questions, that's why they're the ones I'm relying on for assistance.
I never said them questioning was a bad thing. It’s just, in this particular case? I thought I should come to you first. It’s great that some stuff can be out in the open - I’ll make sure to swing by the Schnee Company at some point - but this stuff? Those - things? I’m not so sure we should be shouting that from the rooftops. If you think it’s safe to tell the GRSF then I’ll leave that to you; that’s not my place to order about anyway. Just… think about it before you do.
[Because if anything happens to them as a result? That blood’s on his hands as as he’s concerned.]
And maybe make sure they don’t go telling their friends about it. Last thing we need is someone going trigger happy to see if it’s true.
Action
Thanks for coming. I don't really know who else to go to for this.
Re: Action
I like to think I'm a good choice unless it's something I really don't want to talk about.
