She's taller than you are, Jaune. I think. How tall are you? It's probably really close.
[ She's squinting. Arcanine is 6'3", she's not 100% sure how tall Jaune is. ]
Your people live with Nora and mine live with Ruby. I think we're all used to a little noise. If we start getting ready now we can probably leave around 8.
Eis is a big shelled sea.. thing. You know that myth from Mistral about the Bog Mess Monster? [ Trying to explain what a Lapras was was much harder than Growlithe/Arcanine = giant dog. ] I was just saying names and she liked that one and she was a Growlithe back then and I had no idea what she would evolve into and I regret everything.
[ Whatever, her room is bigger than his so there's more room for Joan to not catch things on fire. ]
Is that where it's from? Didn't the monster fall in love with some guy and sacrificed its voice to be with him? How would Eis fit in your room? I--evolve? You're not making any sense. All I know is, you named your dog after me. I'm not sure how to take it but I'll go with pretending it's a compliment.
They're Pokemon. Eis is a Lapras, which is similar to the monster from Mistral, then I also have Joan the Arcanine, Char the Charizard, Atmo- a Castform, Snowjob-- who I didn't name by the way but she's a Froslass, Aura- a previously extinct Pokemon called Amaura, my Glaceon named Sleet, and Hail the Smoochum. Joan and Char are fire types, Atmo is a normal type- but with the ability to change into an ice, water, or fire type depending on the weather, and all the others are ice types. They're basically fighting animals, like Zwei, but they can only say the name of their species. I caught and trained all of them and I've had Char by my side the longest. Frost, incidentally, is a normal dog without an aura so please don't engage him in combat.
[ It is. She's even leading him into her wardrobe room to go get her belt with the Pokeballs. After touching the button on the front of one,t here's a flash of light and suddenly a huge Arcanine in the room who immediately lays down and rolls onto her back. It's way too early in the morning for this, give her rubs. ]
Good morning, Joan. This is Jaune. Don't even think about it. [ Weiss's voice is clipped the second Joan makes a face that's something along the lines of UNFAMILIAR MALE LETS BURN IT. ] Jaune's a..friend.
I see why you regret everything now. Even if I'm not sure how to feel about my name being part of your regrets. But these Pokemon sound really cool. So they're not like Grimm? Still, they can talk! That's not something I'm used to being normal! It's actually pretty neat. But how do you keep so many? I don't remember seeing anything like that during the move.
[He's trying not to look around too much, the recent incident still on his mind. Weiss wouldn't look at his clothes. Not that she'd be interested in his clothes. He reaches out like he wants to poke one of the weird devices but the flash of light startles him and he ends up jumping back with a rather high-pitched yelp and falls on his ass.]
How-- [But his shock is quickly replaced by awe and there are stars in his eyes because this is like. The coolest thing.] Wow... She's...she's mad at me isn't she?
They shrink and live inside these balls. Char's a little spoiled so you'll probably see him out more than the others. He's an orange dragon with his tail on fire.
[ Weiss is giving Joan a two handed belly rub and smiling like a goofball. ]
My boyfriend loved dragons. He got pissy if I kept Char in his ball for too long, but luckily Char's only about 5'7" so as long as he was careful, he accidentally burnt fewer things than Zuko did.
[ Weiss just lets herself lay down over Joan's stomach. After all, she weighed like nothing compared to an Arcanine. ]
Let her sniff your hand, then if she doesn't bite it off, you can pet her.
Zuko's a fire-bender, so fire was a part of who he was-- think of that like someone who doesn't need Dust to create and manipulate flames.
[ It's actually kind of nice to be able to talk about Zuko. Ever since he left, no one's brought her up to him at all. The fact that Jaune just seems genuinely interested to know more makes her somewhat sorry that she treated him the way she did. ]
But he didn't burn things often. He had great control, and he knew how much damage fire could do if you didn't have that. The only times he really lost control were typically over me.
[ Joan sniffs his hand, narrows her eyes for a couple seconds, then opens her mouth wide and gives him a big sloppy lick. ]
[It's nice to see Weiss happy and it means something to him that she's actually opening up to him. Maybe it was because he was already rejected, so the second time didn't hurt so much. But he mostly was just glad there was someone who had made her happy.]
He sounds like a pretty good guy.
[He ends up laughing because that tickles and pets her.]
Hi Joan, I'm Jaune. You're my namesake! Are you doing a good job protecting Weiss?
It's pretty straight-forward ability name, I know. He was really good at it- he used to bend it in my hands so I could hold it with him, and he'd raise his body temperature when it was cold to keep me warm... [ She is happy, being able to remember him, even if it's just that. ] He was. He won't remember me if he does show up here again, though, so.. thanks for letting me talk about him.
No namesaking! She was a Growlithe when I named her, there was zero Arc involved until later. [ Joan seems totally fine with being pet once she's accepted Jaune though, even rolling over to shove Weiss off to come investigate him more. ] Hey!
You could hold fire in your hands without it hurting? That's...really cool! It kinda sounds like our auras, especially if he used it to keep you warm. [He finds himself smiling softly. Being able to help, even if it's kind of sad, feels nice.] Hey, anytime. What are friends for?
The Arc was always there. It was waiting in her heart until she was ready to become awesome. [He laughs more when Weiss is shoved off, still petting Joan and marveling at her.] That's not protecting. Pokemon are amazing...
He could. I can't. I infused Dust with my nail polish once to try it for this holiday called Halloween, when you can dress up as anything or anyone you want. I dressed up as a Fire Nation citizen and used some Dust and red nail polish so it would ignite when I scratched the polish.
[ Getting it off was a pain and she had to protect her fingers with her aura, but it was so worth it. ]
Okay, but I didn't know the Arc was there or I wouldn't have let her be okay with Joan.
[ Weiss is just crossing her arms now because Jaune's getting all the attention. ]
It's a holiday during which everyone dresses up as whatever they want and just has fun. The barriers between the world of the living and the world of the dead are supposedly overlapped on October 31st, which is why the holiday was brought around. Wearing the costumes helps them feel welcome, calmed, and appeased so they don't go and destroy everything. I'm not sure how much of that is actually true, but it's a holiday that exists in a lot of peoples' worlds here and it's definitely fun. [ She shakes her head. ] Even if I would've had an accident, he could've bent the fire so I felt perfectly safe.
[ She rolls her eyes. ] I named her Joan, I'm not upset I named her that. I'm upset that I didn't do the proper research before naming her to find out just what she would evolve into when exposed to a Fire Stone. Also the fact that there's no way you're not going to let this go to your head.
...Is it October yet? [Because this sounds incredibly fun, minus the dead returning part. Dressing up without being made fun of. He could wear a suit of armor.] You said you've been here two years though. Did you dress up the other year?
I'm not letting it go to my head because the name suits her and her...type? perfectly. It's not being delusional if it's true.
You've got about nine months unless I decide to throw a costume party anyway. [ A beat. ] Which isn't out of question. [ Uhh. Well. ] This last Halloween ended up in some kind of horror show where everyone's fears came to life. I dressed up as Yang at the Harvest Pet Adoption Festival a couple weeks later to make up for it though. I curled my hair and wore shorts instead of a skirt and everything.
Her type? She's a hot-headed dork of a puppy. [ .... ] Actually, no, you're right. I can see that.
There are absolutely no downsides to throwing a costume party. It will raise everyone's morale, you get to dress up and get lots compliments, I...get to dress up. I don't understand. Does it have something to do with this place and how it brings people here? [she's already in a nightgown and now she's talking about dressing as yang. he bets her hair looks nice curled.] Did you honor the bad puns too?

[He grabs his videophone from where he keeps it on his bed.] It's only 6:27. I'm surprised we haven't woken anyone up.

You're not wrong. Okay. See you downstairs.

[ Weiss, without your heels he's more than a foot taller than you.. ]
Aren't you going to see Jo- J first?
no subject
[Who's the shortest of them all.]
Jo-J? I thought her name was J. And yeah, we should see her first.

[ Weiss gets up and starts heading toward her staircase. Congrats, Jaune. You've been invited to Weisstopia. ]
Come on.

She's an adorable protective fluffy Arca...Arcapuppy!

Thanks. I appreciate that you don't think she'll bite off my hand.
