[ She's not even sure how old she is anymore. She's kind of wondering if anyone would question her when January rolls around if she just said she was 22 instead of 21. So "kind of has" seems totally legit to her. ]
If we're having updated anniversary dates you should've told me. [ She has nothing for him and now she's flustered about it and how come he gets to be perfect boyfriend and she feels like the jerk who forgot their anniversary? ]
I'm at the GSRF. The person who was in charge of those crystals went home a while ago so no one made the public post with the compilation, I wanted to grab them so I could work something up to share at home. I'll be back in about 30 minutes unless you want me to meet you somewhere.
[ Even when she doesn't have a real job she gives herself work. Whoops. ]
It's not so much updated as it is we were in that dream place for a whole year. [They still have a few months off before its their legit anniversary, but he's just taking the time to give her one because of all the dream time.]
I can wait at home for you. I'll order some dinner too unless you had your heart set on something else. [When their real anniversary rolls around, they could do something big and proper.]
[ Weiss tries to hurry up, just so she can sneak in swinging by the edible arrangements place to grab him a sprinkle-covered chocolate dipped banana. She didn't really have time to order a whole bouquet so it's just one. It's not much buuuut it's the most she can do without going over the time she said. Sure enough, she gets home in about 34 minutes (there was a line, she tried her best!) and puts the tote with the stuff she grabbed down on the couch before calling out for him. ]
[Sun is just in the bedroom getting changed after taking a shower, so when he hears her voice, he comes out. On the kitchen counter there is a bag of food. He ordered out from a nearby burger place. He got them burgers and her fries and him onion rings.]
I'm here. [He says as he steps into the living room.] Someone arrived late.
[ She comes into the kitchen after hearing his voice, the banana in a box with a ribbon on it in her hands held out to him. ]
Happy time-dilated anniversary. [ She presents him with the box. It's obvious that it's last minute (since she already admitted she didn't expect it) but she tried and that's important.
Also she is so getting some of those onion rings, they should probably just dump them out on a plate together. ]
[Make a communal fry and onion ring pile is probably the smartest thing to do since Sun planned to take some of her fries anyway. He looks to the box and then takes it.]
So I'm assuming this is why you were a little late? [He says with a smile on his face. She had surprised him, honestly. He didn't expect her to get him anything. Even if it was last minute. He opens it up and peers inside. His smile grows even bigger.] I don't think these will be surviving the night.
[If it wouldn't ruin his dinner, he'd go ahead and devour them than before even touching their burgers.]
It's not like it's a bad gift. [Sun could never hate a fruit based gift. It's always the safest bet with him. He reaches into his pocket and takes out a rectangular jewelry box that obvious has a necklace in it and offers it to her.]
[ Weiss accepts it carefully. It feels like lately she can't keep the smile off of her face around Sun. It was that way before, but now it just.. even after spending so long with him, even if the last year or so of it was condensed, knowing they could get through anything whether it was one of them dying or losing the abilities that were a huge part of who they were gave her a lot of confidence and.. well, frankly, it only made her love him more. He made her happy, and it wasn't about the amazing necklace he was handing her.
Though it was gorgeous, absolutely. She ran her fingers over the gem. It looked like stars had fallen into the ocean. ]
For a man who still refuses to wear a proper shirt you have really good taste. I love it.
[ She smiles wider and turns around, taking it out of the box to hold it up, gesturing for him to hook it in the back. ]
I think you’re to blame for any taste that I have in jewelry. [While he never saw Weiss wear a gaudy amount of it, she still does have it. It influences his taste a bit. He moves behind her and takes hold of the clasps and fastens them together.]
It’s actually a bit more than a necklace. [He says as he reaches around with one hand and grabs it. He slides his thumb on the back of it to find a small button and he presses it and legs go of it. Images are projected outward, just your basic run of the mill holograms. It’s pictures of him and Weiss, images that they’ve taken and shared with each other’s on their devices. It flashes through one picture of them just being dorky together, then another of them taking a cute little selfie together.
Then the next image isn’t so much a picture as it is text that says “Will you marry me?” It holds on it for a bit aaaand if she turns around, he’s already down on one knee holding another piece of jewelry.]
[ Weiss wasn't sure what a heart attack felt like, but she was sure this was the closest she had come. The first few images had been just about the only way she could've imagined that this gift got any better, then the message was there, and she was suddenly speechless. For anyone who knew Weiss, speechless was incredibly uncommon. It took her a few moments to even turn around.
She wanted to say yes, so badly, so immediately but the words wouldn't come out. That ongoing anxiety, the very thing that she'd told Yang about when Yang had asked her what she would do if Sun asked-- he was the one person she knew would always be there for her, but this place.. This is one of those rare moments when every fiber of her being wants to say yes to something except for that tiny, nagging part of her that just can't get over the fear of being alone. Which is ironic, considering this was a promise that she never would be again. ]
I want to.
[ Her tone says "but," but she doesn't elaborate. She doesn't want to hurt him, she wants to say yes more than anything, she just.. she's scared. She wants to spend the rest of her life with him, but promising to do so in a place where they don't know if they'll wake up the next day and one of them will be gone sounds like a jinx. ]
[Sun is grateful that it’s not an outright ‘No’. The fact that she wants to say yes is a big bonus. He reaches out to her hand with his free one and grabs it.]
Weiss. I love you without a doubt. I know, technically, we haven’t been together for a year yet. But..the time we spent in that dream was very real. We were very much us. Our time in this relationship together..our time dating.. .I just know for a fact that you are the woman I love. You’re the woman I want to be with for the rest of my life.
[He knows that with every fiber of his being.]I want to marry you. Even if it’s not today or tomorrow. I wouldn’t care if we got engaged and stayed engaged for the next few years, I just know I’m ready to take that step with you.
[He brings her hand to his lips and kisses it.] I don’t know why you won’t say yes. But you aren’t turning me down either, are you? I don't mind if you need time to think and make sure that this is what you want, I can't say that would be unexpected knowing the type of person you are.
[ That smile comes back as she listens, soft and a little less care-free now, but certainly warm. There's obvious love in it, and she holds his hand tightly as he speaks. Her throat is tight, but after a few moments she manages to speak up. ]

In it, it's morning and I can feel your hand holding mine but I haven't opened my eyes yet. In the back of my mind I know not to open them but I always want to see you so badly that I do it anyway, and the bed is empty. I assume you woke up early to go do something, but your shoes are still in the closet, so I go out to look for you, then I see you later that day and you don't recognize me more than Blake's "Ice Queen" friend. That's why sometimes you wake up and I'm just holding your hand and looking at you. I'm scared if I let go before you look at me, you won't be my Sun.
[ She knows this is something he understands, but Weiss has such a fear of being alone that it's a lot more crippling to her. And Sun.. Sun was there when she was at her best and worst, but that also means she's most afraid of losing him. ]
I've lost everyone but you. It feels like if I say yes, I'll jinx that. [ She laughs a little but it's hollow. ] Which.. sounds like an incredibly stupid when I say it out loud. You really don't mind if I take some time to think about it?
[Sun understood that fear all too well. He was broken up when Blake left. It took him a while to get over it. For the longest time, he wasn't looking for a relationship. But little did he know that there was a little seed of love in his heart, one that wasp planted there for Weiss. Overtime it grew and grew until the seed had blossomed. At the point, he hadn't been able to ignore his feelings for her. He had to act on them.]
I completely understand, Weiss. But that's even more reason why I want to do this with you. I think my biggest regret if you ever left would be that I didn't do this, that I didn't initiate this step with you. I don't want any regrets. [He stands up and moves closer to her and wraps his arms around her and gives her a big hug. He was hugging her because he loves her, he was hugging her because she confided her fear in him. He was also hugging her because he wants her to know he's still there and that he hasn't left her.]
I love you more than anything, Weiss. [He whispers into her ear before finally releasing her. He takes her hand once more and places the ring on her palm.]
Keep it. If you ever need a reminder of what I asked you, just look at this ring. If you ever need a physical symbol of how much I love you, look at this ring. I have no problem waiting for you to decide what you want to do. This is important and I want you to make a decision that you are comfortable with.
[ Weiss almost hadn't let him go when he stopped hugging her, but when he went for her hand she loosened her own grip a little bit to take it. Weiss closed her fingers over it, her other hand reaching up to hold Sun's hand over her own before she presses a soft kiss to his fingers. ]
I'll try not to keep you waiting for too long. Thank you for understanding.
[ She looks up at him and tries to quirk her lips up into a smile again. Part of her is sure that the fact that he's comforting her when he's the one whose proposal is on hold is probably more than reason enough that she should just say yes, but he also knows that she's the type who needs to think carefully and figure herself out before she commits to something like this. ]
I love you more than everything, Sun.
[ That sentiment of his though, that's something she knows she can echo. ]
[Sun would definitely be in need of comforting if she had said "No". He can live and be fine with her just placing it on hold while she thought about it. He places his hand lightly on her cheek and smiles. He leans in and gives her a small kiss before pulling back.]
Okay then. Dinner. Want to take our food and settle in and watch a movie? [Or catch up on some TV.]
[ Right now, Weiss kind of just wants him to keep holding her. But if they're watching a movie, they can do both. She'll just tuck herself under his arm and be his left arm any time he needs to use it. ]
Sure. I'll even let you pick what we watch. As long as it isn't sad. And no dog movies. [ Those are always sad. She loves them but no sad right now. ]
