[ Probably because Qubine's been here for months and Winter has been here barely one. ]
I'm not saying it does, and she's mad at me too in case you didn't notice. I won't argue against it, but she's not expecting you to lick her boots and I don't appreciate you talking about my sister like that. My family might be filled with stubborn, difficult people self included at times but she's still my sister and it's not hard for me to admit that she's easily my favorite family member despite how she's acting now. Admitting she's wrong is fine, but I'm not sure what you're expecting by coming to me with something like this.
[ She can yell at her sister and she's not going to go out of her way to defend her when she's wrong, but she's also not going to sit here and have someone come to her with complaints about Winter. She barely puts up with it from Whitley and he's super PC and careful about it. ]
You don't have to appreciate it, but you should know by now that I have little to no restraint when I express myself, particularly when my feelings are strong. Much like both of you.
[Well...that's actually not true in this particular case. He's holding back A LOT. Okay. Deep breath. Slow down and think before he goes off on another tirade.]
Honestly? I wasn't expecting anything. I did see that you tried to get through to her, but if she refuses to listen, then there's not much else that can be done.
I can say one thing: That conversation has cemented my choice to run for Fayren's Guardian again. Not to impress her, of course, I'm not putting any faith in that. But...for myself. I'm used to being in a position of leadership myself, and I really don't know what to do with myself outside of fulfilling responsibilities in every waking moment.
No, but coming to someone who loves her very much with these complaints lacks the same self-awareness she exercised in making that video. I'm just warning you I'm not the person you want to come to with boot-licking comments about my sister.
[ He literally went to Winter's number one fan to complain about her. She knows he's not trying to get her riled up which is why she's giving him a heads up that she's not OK with comments like that before they get into a fight over it. ]
General Ironwood's already given her the order to stand down, I don't think she's going to be a problem. Despite that she went a little.. off the rails, he understands that she was out of line too, and she'll listen to him virtually no matter what. Winter's incredibly difficult to impress so I really wouldn't set it as a goal, I barely manage most of the time. [ And boy does she try. ]
I wish you luck, Qubine. Since the Fayren deputy team right now is essentially all of the previous candidates I'd be willing to bet there's going to be significant competition come December. I doubt Winter will run, if you're worried. [ Mostly because she's banking on Winter not thinking she could actually win a popularity contest with anyone other than Weiss. ]
Because...I really had no one else to go to. I know that you know things about your sister that I don't, and you've earned my respect. I know that people aren't born with a specific personality set in stone, and the same goes for us dragons. It's one's experiences that shape them into who they are today. I was curious as to why your sister behaved the way she did, and you explained that well enough.
[He doesn't need Winter's whole history.]
Even back home, I never really had anyone to truly look up to. My clan looks up to me. My former clan...they were more like equals, rather than figures to look up to.
[Given that this is just now dawning on him, Weiss is probably right in that he lacks self-awareness.]
As for the election, I really don't mind if I lose.
[Anyone but Winter, he thinks. But he'll hold that back as well, to keep himself from getting riled up.]
So are you running because you want to lead or because you're being petty and just don't want my sister to? Which is a very real question because running just so someone else doesn't win is not a valid reason to run. The people have a right to choose between candidates who actually want to do the job.
I believe I've already answered that question. A leadership position is what I am accustomed to, and would be something productive for me to do in this world.
But I've already lost before, so losing again would be nothing new or surprising, especially if we do get a large number of candidates. Like you said, the people have a right to choose who they think is best, so far be it from me to condemn them for that.

[What is social life, anyway?]
