[ She sounds like Mewtwo just said something horribly offensive to her. He did, but she knows it's not his fault it's offensive. It's the nature of the subject. You can't control someone so you take away part of their ability to defend themselves and be true to who they are.. that's horrible. It's the same reason she got involved even anonymously in voicing her problems with Everglade's necromancy ban back in the day, because that basically said that part of her soul-bound ability was evil just because it existed. No one should have their abilities contained unless it's hurting the person itself, and even then that should be their choice as long as they can control it, not someone else. There's a pause before she answers, though she doesn't do particularly well at keeping her feelings out of her voice. ]
I know you said it isn't hurting him, but that's still... cruel. It's not their right to take part of who someone is from someone, especially not to control them.
It's not all that unlike what happened with me. I was fitted with armor to restrict my power, and make it difficult to concentrate and completely block my telepathic abilities. There's only one major difference between myself and Null.
I wasn't afraid of the full extent of my power. I was filled with rage and indignation. I leaped at the chance to unleash it on the world. What little I gleaned from my contact with Null showed me it is scared. Of itself, of people, of everything. It doesn't want to hurt anyone should it not be able to control its power, which is why it keeps the mask.
All I can suggest at this point is time. In time once its more comfortable with you and itself, it will break through the mask on it's own.
[ Somehow that makes it worse, that Null is the only reason it's still on. But it also tells Weiss exactly what she needs to do, or at least what she thinks will help show Null that she understands. ]
I originally tried to move away from the house we were all staying in after I had first managed to summon something and then one of my nightmares.. I accidentally summoned a Grimm in Nora and my bedroom. Home, I did the same in the middle of a party when I got too worked up. I know it's not the same, but I've got an idea where he's coming from.
[ She's expressed concerns about having powers that you haven't learned to control before to Mewtwo. It's one of the things she dislikes about Satori- whether it's a part of her or not, if she can't control it to protect others, then she needed to learn or else she was putting everyone at risk the second something went wrong. Back then it wasn't a problem she had herself, but perhaps experiencing such a thing first hand has solidified her beliefs about that. ]
I'll make sure he knows he's not alone, both in that and in general.
As do I. My earliest memories are of voice both auditory and mental, voices contradicting thoughts, and selfish aspirations directed at me. I was the object of their power, I was to be their tool, and so I lashed out with a power I could not control or comprehend, reducing the entire island to a smoldering pile of scrap and rubble.
However, Null does not have the same innate ability to read people like I do. [Something he simply chooses to turn off] It will take time, but I am confident you will be able to get him to remove the mask, when ready.
I'm glad you've moved past that stage and found a way to come to terms with yourself.
[ His abilities are a part of that, just like Null's are, even if they're different abilities. ]
Thank you, Mewtwo. I mean it.
[ She's sure eventually she and Null would be able to work each other out, but his assistance is really going a long way toward expediting that and filling in blanks she never would've been able to learn otherwise. ]
