[Has he? Seeing how stupidly prideful he had been without realizing how big the world is and how there were still people much more skilled than him he couldn't compare to. Being powerless and watching someone even more powerless rush in to help him like he could, like... Being looked down upon by everyone. There have been moments where he felt he wasn't deserving to be the number one hero, but giving up?] No. You hold onto those feelings and use them to fight harder than you ever have before. Only losers give up.
Time to remember what motivated me to want to be strong. Sometimes, things get bad and you realize that no matter how strong you are, there's always someone stronger. Sometimes that person doesn't want anything more than to break everything you are and take away everything you have. It'll pull the universe out from under you, and when that day comes, just wanting to be strong won't be enough.
When that day comes, you need to know why it's important to you to stay strong.
[So...Deku, who apparently has resented him so much that he kept the secret of his quirk for over a decade so he could shove it in his face later. Deku, pathetic as he is, somehow having the heroic qualities that Katsuki lacks. It's definitely not the same direction as Weiss is implying, but it's how he views the world.
I was City Guardian when it happened to me. A lot of people were dragged into it, and people were trying to help, trying to say the right thing to make it all better for those of us who went through that. I was scared and made a decision based on that, and everyone thought I had taken a step forward because they misunderstood those intentions.
It took me a while to understand why people thought that I wasn't finding a way to protect myself but being strong. It's because they needed me to be strong. They needed someone to say that nothing was alright, but that doesn't mean the world stops because of it. People depend on heroes to remind them why they need to keep trying- because every day is a step forward, no matter how awful things get.
I'm strong because the people who need a reason to be strong need me to prove I can. I'm strong because I want to show people that even if you can't see tomorrow, it's still there, no matter what's blinding you to it. Even if it took a lot of time and a lot of understanding from people who care about me to realize that.
[It really pisses him off. No matter how strong he is, no matter how many villains he may defeat, he'll never be able to grasp that. It's the one quality of a hero he lacks, and he hates people who don't for it.]
Allow me to be obnoxiously honest about this then: You need to decide what being a hero means to you besides being strong if you want to be a decent one. Anyone can be strong, it doesn't make them a hero.
They aren't. I wish they were, but they aren't. More often than not I think the heroes are weaker than villains in terms of pure strength. That's why it's so important to work with others and use your brain.

[ They'll make progress on this if she has to hold his hand the entire damn way!! ]

[But not strong enough.]

You can't answer "to be able to beat everyone else" because that's circular logic based on what you already said.

Fuck
To be like All Might. And to never give up, ever, no matter what odds, and keep fighting no matter what.

Have you ever felt like giving up before, Katsuki?

Why do you believe it's important not to give up?

All Might doesn't give up. What right do I have to call myself a hero if I give up when things get tough?
