He asked me why I trust him because he was surprised you had because of me, then we talked a little about his past. I don't think it's really something that's my place to share, though.
[ Apparently three years in Genessia has taught her a lesson or two about privacy and gossip. ]
[Dang it Weiss, they're teammates, they're supposed to gossip. It's part of the package deal! She decides she has to approach this from another angle...an angle that never fails.]
Did that involve anything in his past he needs to...
[Squint.]
LEG-GO...of...?
[Good job, she's rolling out the puns now. You chose this.]
If you hadn't seen them, you wouldn't have any idea what I was talking about~
[Yang looks smug. Her puns are still better than your puns, Weiss, neener.]
Yeah, he showed them to me after offering to do maintenance on my arm. And he didn't even ask for anything in return except to not get punched with it. It's seriously weirding me out, he seemed...I don't know...nice!
[She sighs, dropping her head and rubbing the back of her neck.]
It's like being in some weird alternate dimension. Does he act this way to everyone else?
He's a constant source of sexual harassment and dumb comments, but otherwise he's been working really hard to be a better person.
[ Look she's not going to deny that he's an asshole. But he's a much better asshole than before, and if she wasn't sure that any member of team JNPR would hang her for saying it, she might call him a friend. ]
I'll admit I didn't expect him to offer that kind of help, but he's been... surprisingly generous lately. [ Offering her a favor after learning somewhat about her father, then agreeing to rescue her on her birthday if anyone tries to force her into festivities. ]
Absolutely not. It took a lot of work and patience!
[ SHE HAS BEEN HELPING WITH THIS she has in fact wanted to push him off a building from time to time, alright!! but he's ok now ]
I think he does. There was.. an unfortunate point in time where some of us were dosed with a serum that separated our worst parts from our best parts, and his better half bested his other to save someone. [ A beat. ] And if he doesn't, Garrus is like justice incarnate.
I.. didn't spend much time with that side. I was also split. There were a number of people upset with me and Mercury's bad side wasn't one of them, and I don't want to talk about it past that. I think Pyrrha spent more time with his better half.
[That's one way to snap Yang out of her melodramatic turmoil. She'd just shouted at Mercury that the people who died that night in Beacon were gone for good, and weren't ever coming back.]
[But that's not true in this place, is it? She swallows past the tightness in her throat.]
[If Pyrrha of all people is willing to work with Mercury, does Yang really have any reason to keep holding a grudge? The redhead is better than all of them. She sighs, and smiles quietly to herself as she quickly wipes away a little dampness from her eyes.]
I'm glad she's okay here.
[Yang clears her throat.]
Guess I can't keep going and being mad at Mercury for what happened to her, then, can I?
[ Okay's a bad word for it, but Weiss doesn't correct her like she once might have. It's a sensitive subject for everyone and Weiss has grown slightly better manners. ]
I don't think she is so it's pretty hard to do so.
Welp! It's been a long day so I guess I'll hit the showers and get some rest. Just thought you'd want to know things worked out fine, but if he already told you, I'm just going to be redundant. See you tomorrow.
I appreciate the update from both ends. Good night.
[ And she really does- Mercury undoubtedly gives the assholiest version possible on a normal day, even if he was surprisingly open and honest with her today. Normally she appreciates all sides though. ]

[ Sorry Yang. She's technically been a teammate of Mercury's more recently than anyone in Team RWBY, she has to protect all the team loyalties! ]
I take it you've seen them too.

...Do you think he's been replaced by a pod person?
[Okay, okay, so he's different. This is going to take a lot of adjusting on Yang's part, she's sure of that.]
Well...what can I say? Good for him. I hope he really means it this time.

[Is she going to have nightmares about Super Happy Neighbor Mercury popping up in her window with a fresh-baked pie and offers of eternal friendship?]
[SHE MIGHT.]
[But...he really wasn't as terrible as she thought he'd be, and she's still trying to wrap her head around that.]
...What was his Best Part like?

Does she know?
[About what should be more than obvious.]

She knows. I suspect it's why she steers clear of most of us, but I think she's doing a little better. She helped us fight during the last breach.
