"Fiine." He'll hold back if Lucy thinks that's the best option. But then the topic shifted once again to that question that they've faced so many times already. Lucy's explanation was in depth enough but almost as if of one mind he picked up where she left off.
"Pretty much everything Lucy said. Not to mention me and all the Dragon Slayers of my generation were raised and taught this magic by our Dragon parents." The second generation dragon slayers were an exception and the mythical third generation were actually first generation just like him.
Weiss just repeats it. Just about everything else there was kind of lost when he said dragon parents. She tilts her head slightly, quirking an eyebrow.
"You don't exactly look like a dragon.. gave birth to you. Is it kind of like that story about a boy being raised by wolves or..?"
Lucy giggles in spite of herself, glancing over at Natsu with -the- most amused grin. She can't help it, she loved to see the reaction. Especially now that she wasn't the one flabbergasted over his weird heritage. Glancing back at Weiss, she set her now empty cup down, "Yeah, I think you could think of it that way. A much larger animal parent, and much more intelligent, but his father taught him a lot to help him get by." And neglected on certain other things he probably thought wouldn't really come up - or thought he'd have more time to.
"Yeah pretty much exactly what Lucy said. We all got picked up as orphans. Well...supposedly orphan in my case I guess..." Yeah finding out that your brother just so happens to be the most famous dark mage of your world does shake your worl just a bit.
"The father that was a dragon." Weiss repeated the words for both emphasis and confirmation. Because frankly that's a little hard to wrap her head around. Zuko knew dragons and it was top secret that they were still around in his world, but growing up with a dragon-dad seemed like a little much to her.
Well he still didn't know his real parents, and a jackass brother was no substitute for that, so he was still an orphan, as far as Lucy was concerned. "It's..." Well as much as she'd like to say 'it's a sensitive subject' or 'It's complicated' and spare Natsu having to even say anything, it -was- his decision to explain or not.
The whole mess with his brother was still something he was coming to terms with. AS such Natsu frowned a bit while wracking his brains about how to explain it.
"It means until recently I was convinced I was an orphan that Igneel picked up. It's only been a few months since I found out I had a brother. Even if he's a damn jerk."
Weiss nodded. She hadn't had to face someone who hadn't known about their siblings, but she knew that there were plenty of people who had family that they loved and knew were terrible people at the same time. Herself included. Even if she can't relate to a surprise sibling, she can understand the 'damn jerk' part.
"Family can be.. difficult sometimes. Believe me, I know. Thanks for telling me anyway."
Lucy could definitely relate to the jerk relative... though she at least managed to start to reconcile with her father before he died. "Yeah, it can." She reached over to squeeze her partner's hand, smiling, "But that's why you have us, in Fairy Tail." They were more family than his jerk of a brother.
She glanced at Weiss, "It's the same for you, right?" She assumes Weiss has her own group of friends from home, that she calls family. She'd hope anyway.
He looks over to Lucy when he feels her hand gripping onto his a little harder. A grateful smile tugged at his lips having that fact reinforced to him by Lucy.
"Yeah of course. You guys are all my family." He said with a firm nod before he turned his look back to WEiss.
"I just answered to the best of my ability. I hope it helps make it more clear."
"I have a biological family. Some of whom I disagree with vehemently, but others.. I wouldn't trade for anything."
It's obviously a carefully phrased sentence, but she hasn't exactly hid who those two are: her father and her sister, respectively. She won't call her friends 'family' though- she likes calling them friends. She likes having friends, even if she literally refuses to let Ruby call her her 'bff.' Family is something Weiss has always had and it's complicated and messy, but her friends are something just as important but very different to her.
The sentiment was the same -- more or less. Lucy smiled faintly, nodding. Honestly she'd give just about anything to be able to disagree vehemently with her father or even see her mother again, but that was beyond anyone's power, alas. Sitting back in her seat, she let out a contented sigh.
Being able to just relax, chat with a friend and share frustrations was surprisingly therapeutic. Even if they were no closer to a definite resolution, they still had a few new ideas now. "Well - I think we've taken up enough of your time for now, Weiss. But we should definitely do this again - ah, with cheerier topics, I think." She chuckled. "Hopefully we'll have reason to invite you out for a change, as thanks for everything." Not that they'll need a reason, really. They could just call her up and make a playdate, so to speak! Oh yeah - she glanced at Natsu, "How was that drink, by the way?"
That's right!

"It did, and I appreciate it."
